Direitos de Resposta: vídeos da série estão disponíveis
No final de 2005, um grupo de seis organizações não governamentais em parceria com o Ministério Público Federal, se dispôs a escrever um novo capítulo na história da televisão brasileira. Diante das constantes violações de direitos humanos praticadas no programa de um conhecido apresentador, optou por sair de uma posição passiva e interferir naquele que é hoje o espaço público por excelência em nosso país, apesar de controlado e monopolizado por tão poucos: a TV aberta.
As organizações – Intervozes e mais cinco entidades de promoção e defesa dos direitos humanos toparam encabeçar uma ação civil pública que pedia, entre outros pontos, um direito de resposta aos grupos e comunidades agredidos pelas conhecidas “pegadinhas” que iam ao ar diariamente, às 16h, e eram assistidas, em seus picos de audiência, por mais de 20 milhões de telespectadores, segundo os dados da própria emissora. Conseguiram essa vitória na Justiça.
Assim nasceu o programa “Direitos de Resposta” – que, de dezembro de 2005 a janeiro de 2006, promoveu debate e reflexões sobre temas ausentes da programação televisiva, dentre os quais educação, saúde, moradia, comunicação, diversidade sexual, igualdade racial, igualdade de gênero, terra, liberdade religiosa, direito das crianças e dos adolescentes, segurança pública, humor, esporte, acesso à Justiça, participação popular, exclusão social, imigrantes e refugiados, trabalho, meio ambiente, questão indígena, direitos sexuais e reprodutivos, diversidade cultural.
